Online Bible Commentary
Matthew 4:8 Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor.
9 “All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.”
10 Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’ ”
11 Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him. (NIV)
Are you assaulted by sin at every turn? In today’s world sin is everywhere. We can’t turn on the television or go to a movie without sin being up in our face.
Additionally, our nation’s leaders no longer rule according to the Bible, but according to the evil ways of the world.
We Christians are Satan’s number one target, and he has lots of help from every nook and cranny of this world. We seem to be fighting a losing war. But we know that Christ is the victor, having conquered sin at the cross.
Jesus gave us an example in this scripture on how to react to sin that is up in our face. We are to send Satan away “in the name of Jesus”. We are to “worship the Lord and serve Him only.”
We can worship the Lord all day, every day as we stay in His word, pray continuously, fellowship with other Christians and choose our entertainment carefully. Today, more than ever, there are a multitude of Christian ministries on the internet and Christian programming on television and the movies.
Support them with your time and resources. Send the devil away and let angels attend to your soul.
